Naava is the winner in the VM Carpet 50th anniversary design competition, designed by Laura Krekula. “The inspiration for the Naava rug comes from memories of childhood summer trips with my mother in the old forests of Lapland. The long beard lichen dripping from the branches of the trees was everywhere. It was a magical, peaceful and beautiful sight. The design of the Naava rug comes from this memory. The long stems of the beard lichen continue along the fringe of the rug, reaching further out. The pappuses sway like waves in the wind, quietly telling us a story. Nature comes in home.”
