Pile comes off my shaggy rug. Is this normal? Is my rug going to be ruined?

This is nothing to be worried about, as shaggy rugs do lose some pile from around the edges after cutting. Usually it is not a lot of pile, but if the cutting of the rug overlaps with the pile line, a bit more pile might loosen. No pile will come off from the centre of your rug, and loose pile at the edges will not affect the appearance. So if a bit of pile comes off, there is no need to worry.

There is a white thread coming out of the edge of my shaggy rug. Is my rug coming apart?

Sometimes there might be white thread coming out of the edges, from between the EVAPOLYTEX backing and the pile surface. There is no need to worry about this, as your rug is not coming apart. Pull the thread gently (be careful not to pull too hard) as long as it comes out, and then cut it off.

Woven rugs are treated with a dirt-resistant agent. Is the material dangerous?

All smooth rugs woven at VM-Carpet come with dirt-resistant treatment. The treatment agent has been developed to protect the surface, colours and fibers of the rugs. The treatment prevents staining and makes it easy to take care of the rugs.

The agent we use is a water-soluble fluoride compound, which, once dried on the surface, is completely harmless to health. Only during the treatment stage, when spraying the agent on the surface of the rug, must one be careful not to inhale the agent, as it may cause irritation.
The effective agents in the treatment are fluoridised polymers. We do not use PFOS agents (perfluorooctanesulfonates) included in the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are harmful to health and were banned in the EU in 2008.

Because the treatment agent is water-soluble, it is recommended to reapply the treatment after wash. At that time, please read the cautions on the package and follow them.

The linen yarn of my linen-wool pile rug has disappeared amidst the wool yarn. Am I going to be able to make it look like new?

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to make it look quite the same as it looked when it was brand new. But if you brush the rug with a sturdy brush with round spikes, it will make the pile denser and thicker, and even the thinner linen yarn will stand out better.

Is there a rug in your collection that can be used as wall-to-wall carpet?

In general, all of our rugs with a backing can be used as wall-to-wall carpets. Especially well-suited for that purpose are our shaggy rugs just as they are. They are easy to install and there won’t be any visible seams. Flat woven rugs, such as Esmeralda and Marmori, and our sisal rugs are also good choices for your new wall-to-wall carpet.
